What is Pelvic Floor Muscle Training?

And why the heck is it important to YOU?

We know that the pelvic floor is made up of muscles that support some pretty important organs and functions.

AKA continence and sexual wellness!

But they’re internal muscles – unlike our biceps or calves – making them difficult to access, exercise wise. And don’t be fooled just because they’re inside. Pelvic floor muscles need just as much love and attention as the rest, maybe even a little more.

For a long time Kegel exercises were the gold standard for pelvic health. But guess what – and if you’ve been following our social you know how I feel about this – they are NOT.

The International Continence Society has been saying it for years – pelvic floor muscles need more than just Kegels – they need Training.

So what does that mean exactly?

It means in order to have sustained results that carry us into our golden years pelvic floor muscles need to be trained just like the rest of the muscles in our body.

  • Brain training

  • Breathing

  • Relaxation and stretching

  • Exercise

  • Proper alignment and posture for sitting on the toilet (YUP!)

  • Lifestyle and potty habits

  • Stress management

YOU can play a more active role by just sitting on a chair. This is where innovation has entered the game! Emsella does the exercise work for you, we give you ALL the tools you need to help yourself and you get to go back to doing the things you love, a lot faster. Finding freedom and confidence again doesn’t have to be challenging.

At V Lounge we take an integrative approach to pelvic health that includes tailored pelvic floor exercises, muscle retraining, breathwork and education about hormones and even your poop!
